After breakfast ready to begin the approximately one-and-a-half-hour tour of the kingdom’s capital: the Royal Palace (outside), the Hassan Tower and Mausoleum of Mohamed V, the Kasba of Oudayas , a stronghold that was a seafaring republic based on race warfare in the 17th century, and finally the Merinid necropolis of chellah. Afterwards we will continue the journey to CHEFCHAOUEN. Arrival scheduled for late afternoon. The rest of the day is free to walk around this magnificent city in the mountains. CHEFCHAOUEN or Blue City, as it is called by all its visitors. This town is huddled on the mountainside and was for many years a holy city forbidden to all but Muslims. It was founded by a warrior monk named MOULAY ALI BEN RACHID in 1471 to fight against the Portuguese and Spanish invasion. Visit the Kasbah and historic center and continue the journey to visit Morocco’s largest archaeological site, Volubilis. A former Roman town of Carthaginian origin that dates back to 42 AD (free visit) and we will see today its well-preserved remains set in a green plain overlooked by the imposing Caracalla Triumphal Arch and beautiful mosaics that narrate mythological scenes and daily life that make us magically step into the past. After breakfast in the riad we are ready to visit Meknes this fortified city built by the famous Alawite sultan Moulay Ismail who during his long reign wanted to rival the ”Sun King” in France his contemporary, and founded here his most fortified capital in all Morocco. The city is surrounded by a mighty wall 25 km long and 40 meters high, in which Bab Mansour opens: the most beautiful gateway in Morocco; not far from Bab mansour is the Madrasa Bou Inania, the famous and huge Heri Es-Souani complex. After the visit we continue in the direction of Fes where our arrival is scheduled for late afternoon. Free dinner and overnight stay in the riad.

After breakfast in the riad, our private Italian-speaking guide will pick you up from the riad where you are staying. The day is devoted to discovering Fes, the oldest and noblest of the imperial cities, heir and cradle of Arab-Andalusian traditions and culture, and epicenter of art and flavor. Fes boasts one of the oldest medieval medinas in existence. Within its labyrinth of 900 stone-built alleyways are enshrined true treasures. We will visit: the Madrasa Bou Inania (Koranic school), the Jewish quarter or Mellah, the El Karoui Yin Mosque, the tanneries, the beautiful Bab Boujloud, the Fountain and the Nejjarine Museum. After the visit is over, time at leisure. Free dinner and overnight stay in riad.

After breakfast you begin the long journey to the Sahara Desert or MERZOUGA. Stop at Ifrane, an exceptional site at about 1650 meters nicknamed the “Switzerland of Morocco” where you will see storks nesting on the roofs of houses. After a stroll through this beautiful town we will resume our journey and the first village we encounter on the way will be Azrou, located in the heart of a natural park of about 53,000 hectares on a plateau, also famous for the presence of so many monkeys in the forest that surrounds it. We will then take the road that climbs the Middle Atlas to the Zad pass and the town of Midelt.

Stop for lunch. We continue through the beautiful ZIZ gorges until we reach Er-Rachidia in the southern province. You will then arrive in Rissani, the gateway to the desert, and from here continue to Merzouga where we will arrive in the late afternoon, leave the car to take camels to go into the desert.

It will be a magical night and we will be able to see a sky full of stars. If we are lucky we will also ruisciiamo to see the Milky Way. For the first night, a beautiful typical dinner is planned around the fire with a feast to the rhythm of drums, singing the songs of the Berbers, Tuaregs and people of southern Morocco. After admiring a beautiful sunrise over the dunes, and after a nice breakfast taken in the middle of the desert we will return by 4×4 jeep to Merzouga to continue our journey. We will then visit the village of Kamlia, famous for its inhabitants from West Africa and their music. From here we will depart for Tinghir via Rissani and a visit to its folkloric market. We will continue to the Todra Gorges and have a chance to stop and admire the fantastic views and take some photos. In the Todra Gorges we will also be able to appreciate the wonderful Canyons altI about 300 m by taking a ́hike. After lunch we will head to Boumalne Dades for a panoramic tour of the Dades Valleys. Free dinner and overnight stay in the riad.

After breakfast you will continue to the Valley of Roses, driving along the road of the THOUSAND KASBAHs. A stop will be made in the main town of this valley, EL-KELAA M´GOUNA famous precisely for the blossoming of these flowers from which many body care products are obtained. From here our journey continues via SKOURA. In the early afternoon we will arrive in OUARZAZATE, a modestly sized town that is home to an important film studio. (An optional visit to the studios is possible here.) We continue on to AIT BEN HADDOU where there is a beautiful KASBAH, a splendid sand castle lying as if by magic in a field of almond and olive trees so beautiful with its play of light that it became the setting for many famous films such as (THE GLADIATOR-BABEL- ASTERIX and OBELIX-LA MUMMIA). Stop for lunch and visit to the KASBAH. We continue towards Marrakech through the high Atlas Mountains and the Tizi n´Tichka pass, at an altitude of 2260 meters. Along the very scenic road we will get to see breathtaking views and numerous Berber villages perched on the mountains. Arrival in Marrakech late afternoon. Free dinner and overnight stay in riad.

After breakfast begins a several-hour guided tour of the city of Marrakech, with an official Italian-speaking guide. The tour begins through its different Suks (Suk,Smata – of babouches, Suk Haddadin – of iron makers, Suk Chouari – of basket makers, Suk Cherratine – where leather is worked, Suk of jewelers) From here we will arrive at the Ben Youssef madrasa, the largest and most beautiful Koranic school in the city, near the mosque of the same name and the Almoravid koubba and the Museum of Marrakesh, where we will pay a visit.

Moving then to another area of the city we will visit the palace of the Bahia, or the ”beautiful,” nickname for the favorite, rich residence of Vizier Ba Ahmed, built around 1880, and from there to the dar Si-Said palace, also a splendid residence of the vizier’s brother. Near these two palaces you will be able to see the exterior of the El-Mansour Mosque, also called the kasbah mosque, easily recognized by its minaret with turquoise arabesques. We then continue with a visit to the Saadian tombs, whose garden belonged to the El-Mansour mosque, which hold the tombs of the rulers and family members of this dynasty.

After finishing our visit you can have lunch and free time remains. May we suggest visiting the Majorelle Gardens, wonderful botanical gardens, made by fashion designer Yve Saint Laurent, not far from the city center and about 10 minutes from your riad.

After breakfast in the riad your driver will take you to the airport for your return to Italy two and a half hours before your final departure time.
