Itinerary
Day 1
Nairobi
Jambo! Upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi, you will be met by our representative and transferred to your chosen city hotel. The rest of the day and evening are at your own leisure. Overnight at your hotel on bed and breakfast basis. There is a whole array of optional activities which we can organize during your stay in the city depending on your preferences (at an additional cost). For example,if you like to include some of the classic highlights of Nairobi, you could visit the famous Karen Blixen Museum and indulge in Kenya’s olden days… This is where most of the famous Hollywood movie “Out of Africa” was filmed starring Meryl Streep & Robert Redford… You can easily combine this with a visit of the David Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage to learn about these impressive, playful giants and how they are being prepared to be released back into the wild… Another great idea is to visit the prominent Giraffe Centre, where you will get up really close to giraffes. Anyway, you might just want to relax after your long flight and simply enjoy the hotel facilities. Dinner is on your own account. Nairobi offers a vast range of restaurants – we are happy to help you make a good choice!
Day 2
Nairobi - Aberdares
After breakfast, your private driver/guide will meet you at the reception at 8 am – to kick off your safari with a 3-4 hour drive north to the Aberdare Range. You will drive past sisal farms, pineapple plantations and coffee farms, through green undulating landscapes arriving at your chosen lodge for lunch. After lunch you will either embark on a game drive in Aberdares National Park or engage in any optional activity of your preference at Mount Kenya National Park such as trout fishing or a guided 2-hour forest nature walk. It’s an excellent way to start your safari experience in Kenya – last but not least thanks to the refreshing, moderate climate at the higher altitude.
Overnight at your chosen lodge on full board basis.
Day 3
Aberdares - Lake Nakuru
After breakfast, you will depart from Aberdares early at around 08:0 am to drive to Lake Nakuru (4- 5 hours). Arrival at your chosen lodge will be in time for buffet lunch. After lunch and check in you will depart for a game drive in Lake Nakuru National Park with the breathtaking landscape of the massive Rift Valley all around you.
Overnight at your chosen camp/lodge in Lake Nakuru on full board basis.
Day 4
Lake Nakuru - Masai Mara
After an early breakfast, your journey takes you to the Masai Mara, Kenya’s most famous wildlife reserve. The drive from Lake Nakuru / Lake Elementaita takes about 4 hours to the gate, but will allow you to experience the wide open landscape of the Great Rift Valley. Enjoy a first sense of true adventure as you make your way through the park to your chosen camp/lodge. You will arrive in time for lunch, followed by your check in. Thereafter, you will embark on your very first fully-fledged game drive in the Masai Mara in the afternoon!
Overnight at your chosen camp/lodge on full board basis.
Day 5
Masai Mara
Today enjoy a full day in the stunning Masai Mara. Two game drives are recommended in a day, one in the early morning and another one in the late afternoon, because this marks the time when the animals are most active. Alternatively, you can choose to take an early breakfast and then embark on a more extensive full-day game drive with packed picnic lunch, which will allow you to also explore more remote areas of the reserve and discover its diverse landscape more intensively.
Overnight at your chosen camp/lodge on full board basis.
Day 6
Masai Mara - Nairobi
After an early breakfast at the lodge/camp, bid farewell to the Mara as you start your road trip back to the capital. Drive back through the Great Rift Valley, passing numerous smaller and bigger dormant volcanos along the way.
